NFL football is back and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are getting closer to their preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday.
The Bucs were on the practice field today after a day off yesterday. If you missed Friday’s notes you can read them by clicking here.
Now, on to today’s notes, courtesy of the local media:
- Rashaan Melvin returned to practice but Mike Jenkins and Alterraun Verner sat out again
- Jeremy Grable didn’t practice either and had a protective boot on his left foot
- Evan Dietrich-Smith also sat out. Jason Foster took his place in the line-up
- Dashon Goldson was back in action today
- Robert Herron is still struggling to catch the football
- Jeff Demps is getting looks as a kick returner as is Charles Sims and Eric Page
- Patrick Omameh played at right guard with the first team while Oniel Cousins was at left guard
- Mike Glennon was really good toaday
- Da’Quan Bowers continues to play at defensive tackle
- Lovie Smith said they’ll dress seven offensive lineman and will keep four safeties, if not five
- Ronald Talley was activated from non-football injury list and returned to practice
- Danny Gorrer got some time at corner with the first team
- Wide receiver screen looks certain to be part of Bucs offense
- Gerald McCoy was dominant during goal-line drills
- Cornerback Bradley McDougald continues to impress
- Smith says his receivers should have a lot of success this year because of their height
- He adds that “we’re making progress as a football team.”
