Ondrej Palat scored a pair of goals as the Tampa Bay Lightning picked up a 4-2 road win against the Arizona Coyotes Saturday night.
Palat scored the game-winner 3:27 into the third as he skated in on former Bolts goaltender Mike Smith and beat the veteran goalie blocker side for his 14th goal of the season.
Palat had tied the game at 1-1 at 6:45 of the second as he connected on Ryan Callahan’s pass to beat Smith. Arizona had taken a 1-0 lead in the first on a Michael Stone goal.
The Bolts (37-18-6) extended their lead to 3-1 when Callahan scored his 18th goal of the season. Defenceman Mark Barberio had skated around the net and just as he was about to shoot, Callahan shot the puck at the same time confusing Smith who was beaten short-side.
Mark Arcobello got Arizona (20-32-7) within a goal at 11:42 of the third as he capitalized on a Steven Stamkos turnover to score on a breakaway. However, Stamkos would seal the win on the power play with an empty net goal with less than five seconds to play.
Ben Bishop made 20 saves for his 30th win of the season while Smith stopped 23 shots. Anton Stralman had two assists for the Lightning.
Tampa Bay went 2-for-6 with the man advantage while Arizona failed to capitalize on their lone opportunity.
Brenden Morrow and Luke Witowski were scratched for Tampa Bay, while former Bolt B.J. Crombeen sat out for Arizona.
