Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo finished as the runner-up in the 2015 Slam Dunk contest Saturday night.
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Zach LaVine won the event after scoring 94 on his two dunks in the final. Oladipo scored 72 points out of a possible 100. Each dunk was totalled out of 10 by five judges.
Oladipo had advanced to the final after scoring 89 in the first round. He scored a perfect 50 after pulling off an impressive 540 dunk in his first dunk.
However, he couldn’t execute his first dunk in the final putting him behind LaVine and he ultimately had no chance of catching the high-flying rookie. Magic teammate Elfrid Payton aided in Oladipo’s two final dunks, concluding with this assist from behind the backboard.
Earlier in the evening, Payton took part in the Taco Bell Skills Challenge but was easily beaten by the Atlanta Hawks’ Jeff Teague.
Magic legend Penny Hardaway took part in the Degree Shooting Stars as part of Team Westbrook but lost in the final to Team Bosh who won the event for the third straight night.
Oladipo and Payton both played last night in the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge.
The Magic have no participants in Sunday night’s NBA All-Star game.
