Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo scored 22 points for Team USA in their 121-112 loss to Team World in the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge Friday night in Brooklyn.
Oladipo went 8-of-21 from the floor, including 3-of-8 from behind the arc in 26 minutes. The second year pro also tallied three rebounds and four assists.
Team USA teammate and dunk contest opponent Zach Lavine also had 22 points while Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Andrew Wiggins had 22 for Team World and was named MVP.
Oladipo’s Magic teammate Elfrid Payton had two points, three rebounds and three assists in 16 minutes. Both Payton and Oladipo started.
All five Team World starters scored in double digits and shot 58.5 per cent from the floor.
It was the first year of a new format in which Team USA faced off against Team World. The players who participated in the game were either NBA rookies or sophomores.
On Saturday, Payton will take part in the Taco Bell Skills Challenge while Oladipo will take part in the Sprite Slam Dunk contest.
