Tobias Harris scored 21 points as the Orlando Magic survived a late rally by the Phoenix Suns for a 93-90 road victory Sunday.
The Magic (7-12) led 77-62 with 6:54 left but Phoenix (10-8) went on an 18-3 run to make it 83-80 Orlando with just 1:01 to play.
Nikola Vucevic, who had 18 points, scored on a layup after a Magic timeout and then Harris added a technical free throw after Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek argued that Vucevic travelled.
Another Vucevic layup got the Magic lead to 89-82 with 23 seconds left but Phoenix wouldn’t quit. A Gerald Green three made it 91-90 with 1.6 seconds left before Evan Fournier sealed the win with a pair of free throws.
Fournier had 15 points while Victor Oladipo had 12. Former Suns star Channing Frye had just three points in 27 minutes.
Orlando took a foothold on the game when they went on an 18-3 run over the final 5:50 of the first half to take a 52-39 lead into the break.
Elfrid Payton added seven points, nine rebounds and four assists off the Magic bench. Goran Dragic had a game high 22 points for Phoenix while Markieff Morris added 18 points and 10 boards.
Green had 11 points off the bench including a contender for dunk of the year.
The Magic had 22 turnovers compared to Phoenix’s 19 but held the Suns to just 40 per cent shooting from the floor.
Orlando continues its six-game road trip with a visit to Oakland to face the Golden State Warriors Tuesday night.
