FSU Seminoles Cruise Past Syracuse Orange

Jameis Winston threw three touchdown passes as Florida State remained undefeated after beating Syracuse 38-20 on the road Saturday afternoon.

Winston threw for 317 yards while Dalvin Cook ran for 122 yards and a touchdown. Mario Pender had FSU’s (6-0) other touchdown.

Rashad Greene broke the Seminoles’ all-time reception record as he caught his 213th pass, surpassing Ron Sellers’ record that had stood for 46 years.

FSU jumped to a 10-0 head after the first quarter thanks to Pender’s 12-yard touchdown run and Roberto Aguayo’s 34-yard field goal.

Cole Murphy cut into the lead with a 21-yard field goal for the Orange (2-4) before FSU responded on their next drive as Winston hit Pender for a 4-yard score.

Another Murphy field goal inched Syracuse a little closer before Winston hit Nick O’Leary for a 21-yard touchdown to give FSU a 24-6 lead at half time.

Each side scored a touchdown each in the third and fourth quarters.

FSU put up 482 yards of offense but did have two fumbles. However, the ‘Noles’ defense had three takeaways as Jalen Ramsey, Tyler Hunter and Nate Andrews all had interceptions.

Terrance Smith led the Seminoles in tackles with eight while Reggie Northrup had seven tackles and the team’s lone sack.

FSU host Notre Dame in their next game on Oct. 18.
