Jameis Winston threw two touchdowns as the Florida State Seminoles moved to 2-0 on the season with a 37-12 win against the Citadel Bulldogs.
The ‘Noles built a commanding 28-0 half time lead and pushed it to 34-0 by the end of the third quarter. The Bulldogs added two consolation touchdowns in the fourth quarter either side of a third FSU field goal.
Winston was 22-of-27 for 256 yards and threw touchdowns to Nick O’Leary and Jesus Wilson. Winston was later replaced by Sean Maguire who went 3-of-5 for 28 yards.
Citadel (0-2) quarterback Aaron Miller was 3-of-11 for 46 yards and threw a touchdown that was caught by Rudder Brown. DeAndre Schoultz caught the other touchdown pass from Dominique Allen.
The Bulldogs ran the football 56 times for 250 yards, led by Miller who gained 61 yards on 14 carries.
FSU’s Dalvin Cook led the Seminoles rushing attack with 67 yards on 13 carries while Karlos Williams had 66 yards on nine carries. Each player had a rushing touchdown.
Senior wideout Rashad Greene led the Seminoles in receiving with 80 yards on four catches.
Seminoles kicker Roberto Aguayo was 3-for-3 on field goals and added four extra points.
FSU outgained Citadel 494 yards to 322. Neither team had a turnover and only three penalties were called, all of which were against Florida State.
The ‘Noles will face much stiffer competition in their next game on Sept. 20 when they host Clemson.
