The reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Jameis Winston, headlines the watch list for the 2014 Maxwell Award.
The award is given to the college football player of the year by the Maxwell Football Club.
Last season, Winston led FSU to a national title as they edged the Auburn Tigers 34-31.
Winston threw for 4,057 yards with 40 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions in 14 games. He became just the second freshman to win the Heisman and is the youngest player in history to win college’s most coveted individual accolade.
Winston’s teammates, running back Karlos Williams and wide receiver Rashad Greene, are also named to the watch list.
Last year Williams rushed for 730 yards on 91 carries and scored 11 touchdowns. It was his first season as a running back after playing as a defensive back in his first two seasons.
Greene had a team high 1,128 yards on 76 catches last season while hauling in nine touchdown passes.
With all three players returning for another season, the FSU offense will once again be dynamic and exciting as they look to defend their national title.
Also on the watch list is Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel.
He played in the first three games of the season before breaking his right leg against Tennessee. He threw for 477 yards with two touchdowns and three picks.
However, over 12 games in 2012, he threw for 1,646 yards and 12 touchdowns while leading Florida to the Sugar Bowl. He also had five picks.
The 2013 Maxwell Award winner was Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron.
