SWEET SIXTEEN (REGION SEMIFINALS)
(1) Virginia Cavaliers vs. (4) Michigan State Spartans
Friday, March 28th
Analysis: If you ever saw the movie 300, you’d know that it’s best not to mess around with Spartans. How awesome would it be if Tom Izzo walked to center court to talk with Tony Bennett and straight drop kicked him in the chest?
While I doubt that will happen, I do believe that Michigan State will find a way to pull off the upset. #IzzoMagic
(3) Iowa State Cyclones vs. (7) UConn Huskies
Friday, March 28th
Analysis: Nate Silver believes the Cyclones have a 20% chance of advancing to the Elite Eight, but they’ll need to get past Shabazz Napier and the Huskies in order to do so. These teams have contrasting styles of play, with the Huskies preferring a more half-court approach to the Cyclones up and down tempo. Whoever controls the tempo of the game will have the upper hand and unfortunately for UConn fans, I think Melvin Ejim and the Cyclones end the “Kemba Walker-esque” run of the Huskies.
