SWEET SIXTEEN (REGION SEMIFINALS)

(1) Florida Gators vs. (5) VCU Rams

Thursday, March 27th

Analysis: A great match-up pitting two elite defensive squads against each other on the national stage. Another great story line for this game would be the Shaka Smart versus Billy Donovan, student versus teacher drama. One of the main reasons Florida stands as the favorite to win the title is the fact that Billy D is at the helm, however, his former understudy is one of the top young coaches in the game (similar situation to how Donovan got the nickname Billy the Kid). If Florida is able to feed Patric Young down low and stay out of foul trouble, the Gators will be headed to their fourth straight Elite Eight.

(2) Kansas Jayhawks vs. (3) Syracuse Orange

Thursday, March 27th

Analysis: This is an awesome game on paper. Two historically strong basketball teams facing off in the Sweet Sixteen. Two highly successful coaches that have led their teams to the promised land. The difference maker in this game is Andrew Wiggins and I’m not sure if Syracuse has an answer for him. Wiggins for the win.
