Tampa Bay Buccaneers wideout Mike Evans will reportedly miss 2-4 weeks with a groin injury suffered during Sunday’s 27-24 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Evan was injured in the third quarter running a deep route down the right side line. After Bucs quarterback Mike Glennon had released the ball, Evans pulled up half way through his route. Glennon’s pass was then intercepted by Cortez Allen.

“Mike Evans played well, made big plays,” coach Lovie Smith told the Tampa Bay Times. “But losing him in that period of the game didn’t help our cast any at all, either.”

Evans had four catches for 65 yards Sunday and hauled in his first career touchdown pass that gave the Bucs an early lead.

This season, Evans has 17 catches for 203 yards and one score.

Louis Murphy, who replaced Evans Sunday and was instrumental in getting the Bucs their first win of the season, will likely step into Evans’ spot.

Robert Herron, who was inactive Sunday, will likely be active moving forward. Additionally, the Bucs could rely more on young receiver Russell Shepard and could get Solomon Patton involved in the pass game more.

Furthermore, they could resign Chris Owusu, who was cut in favour of Murphy last week. Of course, the Bucs could sign someone else out of the free agent pool.
